Project Engineer Research & Development

Our client is a first tier supplier to the global avaiation Industry, a leader in the manufacturing of highly complex areostructures and engine products.

This is a key leadership role within the Technology team at the National Composites Centre, responsible for the creation of an innovative value adding technology strategy and associated project portfolio. With a brief to support the determination of the overall technology strategy and projects forour client, you will be closely connected to our customers both internally and externally to ensure that any proposals support their product strategies and growth plans. Interfacing with GKN’s technology development clusters, you will identify, initiate and ensure the development of R & D technology projects, ensuring fully integrated product and material solutions across all product/material types.

It is critical that you develop and foster a culture of innovation across the business provide the thought leadership, sponsorship, resource management as well as bringing your considerable leadership expertise to meet the requirements of this role you will be of Graduate calibre ideally with a degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. You will have held responsibility for R & D project, material and process development from concept through implementation and benefit realisation.

With exceptional expertise in leading edge material and process development, you must be an experienced senior engineering R & D specialist, who can demonstrate a good level of technical application. You should also be used to working in a project environment and have excellent people management, leadership and motivational skills.

The breadth and influence of this role requires someone high in intellect, able to juggle abstract and practical concepts in tandem and the ability to engage with and influence stakeholders from suppliers through customers, internal partners, funding & collaborative partners.
