Key Responsibilities:
· Technical support for all iSeries systems
· Upgrading of Operating System Software and iSeries Hardware for the iSeries as required and agreed with management
· Provide Operations function for central iSeries and other IT systems
· Provide second and third level support for IT Service Desk and Support staff to resolve complex and difficult technical problems, especially within the iSeries area
· Capacity and performance monitoring of IT infrastructure components
· Makes recommendations to management, on which strategic and tactical decisions are based.
· Ensures the resolution of specific IT related problems, identifying root causes and taking corrective action.
· Provide technical support and advice to other members of the IT department.
· Develops and maintains good working relationships with suppliers in order to obtain reliable and cost effective solutions.
The ideal candidate should have expertises in:
· Extensive iSeries technical support and operations experience.
· Ideally (but not essentially) have knowledge of EMC SAN and Maximise products.
· Knowledge of Microsoft Windows (Server and PC) and application software would be and advantage
· Detailed knowledge of iSeries Operating system support including networking and Operations support
· Detailed knowledge of networking protocols especially TCP/IP would be an advantage
