Role Title Quality Engineer - Engineering & Programmes

Site Bristol

Salary £25.000 to £35.000 depending on experience

The purpose of the role is to ensure assurance processes are deployed effectively within new programmes. This involves leading the implementation of advanced quality planning activities and co-ordinating quality assurance activities across multi-functional design & build activities, from sub-tier supply chain through manufacturing to the customer.

Key Accountabilities

  • Lead the management & development of the industrialisation of new programmes within a design build environment, assuring the following; 
    • Customer compliance
    • Sub-tier supply chain compliance with minimal non-conformance and waste
    • Internal manufacturing compliance with minimal non-conformance and waste
    • Robust processes for timely achievement of product First Article requirements

  • Lead the development and deployment of advanced quality planning activities within new programmes, including facilitation &/or use of: 
    • Design FMEA, Manufacturing process flow charts, Process FMEA, Control plans (inspection and certification controls), Measurement systems evaluation, Process capability studies & qualification
    • Quality Management System developments to meet future customer requirements
    • Non-conformance management processes (including customer concerns management)
    • Variation reduction & Continuous improvement activities

  • Reporting the progress and results of all activities undertaken to personnel within Quality & Engineering, other support functions and operational areas

  Key Attributes Essential

  • Applicants should be educated to HND level or above or be able to demonstrate experience to an equivalent depth / breadth
  • Practical knowledge of design, manufacturing, supplier and quality management systems
  • In-depth experience of working with customers through a programme, ensuring good consistent communication of subject matter and effective cascade of requirements.
  • Experience with advanced quality planning principles, ideally within a QS9000 / TS16949 environment
  • In-depth experience with problem solving (using appropriate quality tools and techniques)
  • Effective communication skills for liaising with and leading advanced quality planning activities among a wide range of people and departments both internal and external to the company at all levels
  • Flexibility in working as a committed team-player in a fast-paced customer-focused environment

Key Attributes Desirable

  • Technical Apprenticeship in an engineering environment
  • Experience with Joint Aviation Requirements, notably EASA Part 21 Subpart G
  • Working knowledge of SPC and deployment of quality tools and techniques
  • Experience with quality management systems (ISO9000), and ideally with EN9100
  • Relevant IQA qualifications
